Daisy’s latest extraordinary woman, Gail, talks about how she nearly never made it out of the Grand Canyon, which gave her the push she needed to take back control of her health with keto.
Gail Straker knew from an early age that she was meant to be a teacher. Throughout her life she has been driven to share knowledge and help others learn and develop their skills and talents. She has taught math in all grade levels in public schools and has trained coworkers through workforce development. She believes that teaching is a lifetime endeavor and that it is a two way street. Teachers learn as much from their students as the students learn from the teacher.
In August of 2017, she hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-To-Rim and while on that 3 day hike, she had a health scare and wasn’t sure she was going to make it. She climbed out of that canyon and promised herself that she would focus and get healthy.
The following month she started on her keto journey. She has spent the last three years finding out which Bio hacks work for her, regaining her health, and sharing her knowledge with family and friends. She has inspired many of them to start and continue their health journeys and has supported them along the way with knowledge and resources.
In April 2019, she discovered she has lipedema. She has taken a mini-master class from Lipedema-Simplified.org, has attend almost all of the webinars offered this last year, is a charter member of the Lipedema TRIBE, and is in the process of becoming a certified advisor through Prof Timothy Noakes’ Foundation, Nutrition Network. She continues to be inspired by the leading experts in the Low carb community.
Inspired by Daisy, and her own daughters, she has recently started journaling, striving for mindfulness, and stepping outside of her comfort zone. By doing so, she has found the confidence to start on a new career path at age sixty. She is excited that she has been given the opportunity to join the staff of Lipedema Simplified as a Mentor and soon to be Coach.
